> There are many things that we wish for our children. Above all, we wish healthy and fulfilling lives for them. How do we make our contribution to this as their parents? In the great rush for adult wellbeing children have often been left behind. Yet it is in childhood where the seeds for a healthy and happy life are sewn. In a consumer market which claims to know what our children need in order to be happy, it can be easy to lose perspective.
The most important persons in the lives of children are their parents. Our actions and outlook influence our children's decisively. Very often, being a good parent means reinventing yourself. That is, breaking out of years of dusty, ingrained conditioning and thinking anew in specific situations.
Seven Years in Childland is a story of adult reinvention. In it I take you through the story of what I learned through the experience of raising twins on a small, isolated island. This book is a memoir of adventure at the same time that it is of practical use to parents.
